![]() ![]() I need an utility (for Windows) which can compare all the folders and files and identify all the different versions of the same files. Total Commander is a file manager for Windows, which, apart from all file explorer like an option, offers a feature to Compare files and synchronize directories. Over the years various people have made minor changes inside these asp files. You will use File Explorer to find files youve saved to your computer or a connected device, create new folders or move/copy files. One thing we should keep in mind here is that diff utility compares files by content, and that may result in a significant delay at large volumes of compared data. I've got 700+ folders with the same set of 200+ classic asp files (basically text files) in each folder. To exclude all the *.log files from the example above, we add –exclude=’*.log’ to the command: diff -brief -recursive Dir1 Dir2 -exclude '*.log' Files Dir1/client.log and Dir2/client.log differįiles Dir1/subdir1/file12 and Dir2/subdir1/file12 differįiles Dir1/subdir2/file22 and Dir2/subdir2/file22 differĪnother useful option of diff utility is –exclude, it allows filtering out items that we are not interested in within the scope of comparison. WinMerge is a tool that allows you to compare the contents of two directories. ![]()
